PROJECT SCOPE:
The Radisson Hotel and Conference Center was completed in the
Summer of 2003. Standing at
seventeen stories, it is the tallest structure in north central
West Virginia. It will consist of a seventeen story hotel tower and
an adjoining two story parking deck/conference center. The
construction budget is $33 million for the 300,000 square foot
floor facility.
Construction was started August 2001 with the installation of the
foundation system. It consisted of deep concrete caissons ranging
in diameter from three feet to eight and a half feet. Depths
reached up to thirty four feet below grade. Caisson tops were
dropped eight feet below grade in the ground level swimming pool
area of the hotel tower.
The hotel structure is a steel frame utilizing a combination of
braced frames and interior reinforced concrete core towers at the
elevators and stairwells. All structural steel conforms to ASTM
A992, a 50 ksi yield steel. The floor construction consists of a
five inch thick lightweight concrete slab supported by composite
floor beams. |
